Falmouth Selectmen have identified wastewater and nutrient management as the Town's
Number 1 priority to maintain the quality of life in Falmouth. They have developed
a Wastewater and Nutrient Management Vision and Strategies Statement. This vision statement provides the following background
and direction for these very important Town efforts:

- Land Use and Regulatory Measures

This vision builds on significant completed and on-going nutrient and wastewater
mitigation projects:
- Implementation of sewers for the New Silver Beach Service area.
- Upgrade of the Falmouth Wastewater Treatment Facilities to include a new enhanced
nitrogen removal (ENR) process and to expand the capacity for additional wastewater
flows from the West Falmouth Harbor watershed.
- Implementation of a sewer connection to the Falmouth High School.
- Completion of Massachusetts Estuaries Project (MEP) technical reports for the following
waterbodies and watersheds:
•Little Pond
•Great, Green and Bournes Ponds
•Quashnet River and Waquoit-East area
•Oyster Pond
•West Falmouth Harbor
- Town-wide evaluation of potential sites to recharge the treated waters from potential
new wastewater treatment facilities as part of the current Comprehensive Wastewater
Management Project for South Coast Watersheds.
- Detailed evaluation of the nitrogen mitigation for the South Coast estuaries from
Little Pond to Waquoit Bay as part of the latest CWMP Project.
